Staying Connecting with Our HeadStrong Community

Dear HeadStrong Community,

As we are all going through this difficult time, we want you to know that we are thinking of you and miss seeing you and your families. We hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. We know everyone is working to adapt to the evolving situation with Coronavirus.

We have cancelled all HeadStrong events through at least April and anticipate that we may need to cancel additional events. We want to share some resources that we are finding helpful during these extended periods of time indoors and social isolation.

Child Mind Institute, offers direct parent support during Coronavirus and helpful information on topics such as: Talking to children about Coronavirus; Self-care; Easing anxiety & stress; Supporting teens & young adults, and more.

Camp Korey’s “Campfire Fridays” invites parents and youth to join Camp Korey every Friday in online camp activities and crafts, cabin-chat conversations, and more.

UW Medicine TBI InfoComics were created in collaboration with Silas James, a graduate of UW who is also a survivor of a brain injury. TBI InfoComics use graphic novel format to talk about topics such as: Emotional Changes, Sleep, Headaches, and Chronic Pain.

LoveYourBrain was founded by Kevin Pearce, a world class snowboarder who experienced a TBI. LoveYourBrain has online resources for meditation, yoga and community stories.

BrainLine is one of our favorite general sites for information about brain injury and neurological recovery.

We will continue to keep you updated through our Facebook page and email as we head into the summer months.

Warmly,
The HeadStrong Team
