Conflict Resolution Training Part 1 MONDAY, MAY 16, 2016, 5 – 6:30PM
“Conflict Resolution” will be offered over two weeks in (2) 1.5-hour sessions. In Session 1 of “Conflict Resolution”, we talk about the impact on brain injury on emotional and chemical regulation systems. We introduce the “Anger Scale” as a way of understanding the physical source of dysregulation. We discuss positive behavior supports as a key way to reduce conflict. We will do exercises in small groups on self-monitoring and self-calming skills and learn a variety of communication tools that build trust during conflict resolution. When used consistently, these tools help us and others develop successful habits in times of conflict.
Conflict Resolution Training Part 2 MONDAY, MAY 23, 2016, 5 – 6:30PM
In the Session 2 of “Conflict Resolution” we will share our experiences working with the self-monitoring and self-calming skills developing in Session 1 and work in small groups to develop “Safety Plans” or “Maps to Okay” to help us and our families during times of dysregulated difficult emotions or conflict. These plans help us prepare in advance for times when we are experiencing dysregulated emotions such as stress, anxiety, anger, or any other difficult emotion.
