Events
HeadStrong hosts a variety of accessible and adaptive events. HeadStrong collaborates with the Outdoors for All Foundation and other community partners to host adaptive events including bicycling, kayaking, music, and art.
Our events are open to friends and family and are always free. Individuals of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend HeadStrong events.
Pediatric Brain Injury Family Day
Come join Headstrong and discover your inner hero/heroine during a Pediatric Brain Injury Family Day! Headstrong is partnering with Camp Korey to provide a day for kids, siblings, and their parents to meet and find support from their community. Ages 4-17 are welcome, and we will have a variety of activities to participate in. Younger kids will get to test their power with amazing games! Teens will celebrate their gifts by designing unique T-shirts! Parents will get a chance to meet other parents in the community, and explore support organizations.
Walk and Roll 2024
Come join Headstrong and BIAWA on October 19th for a walkathon in support of brain injury survivors. We welcome all survivors and family members to participate in our wheelchair-friendly course! There will be some autumn treats (hot cider, cocoa, pastries, etc.) and walk essential packs (with sunscreen, water and bandanas) provided for everyone!
HeadStrong and Outdoors for All Present: Adaptive Kayak Day at Magnuson Park
Join us for a fun afternoon kayaking on beautiful Lake Washington! Headstrong is teaming up with Outdoors for All for the second time this summer to host an adaptive kayak event at Warren G. Magnuson Park, Picnic Shelter #2. We invite you to try out an array of kayak options and practice your paddling skills out on the water. Come for the refreshments and fresh air, stay for the community!
HeadStrong and Outdoors for All will provide support and guidance so you can feel confident and safe while navigating Lake Washington!

Get ready to pedal your way to fun at Warren G. Magnuson Park! This event is all about inclusivity and enjoying the great outdoors on wheels. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or new to adaptive biking, there's something for everyone.
Come and test ride a variety of adaptive bicycles, meet fellow cycling enthusiasts, and enjoy a day of outdoor activities. HeadStrong and Outdoors for All will provide support and guidance so you can feel confident and safe while exploring the park on two wheels.
Youth Transition Summer Workshop
Join the Center for Independence for a FREE overnight workshop where youth ages 16-24 years old will develop self-advocacy and leadership skills, plan your career goals, build a network of friends and supports, and have a college experience on campus!
Brain Network Summer Fishing Fair
Brain Network is excited to extend a warm invitation to their 2024 Summer Fishing Fair. Join Brain Network for a day filled with festivities, food, fishing, friends and family!
Outdoor Concert featuring Celtic music
Prepare to be transported to the lush landscapes of Ireland as we invite you all to a benefit concert featuring the enchanting melodies of traditional Irish tunes, all in support of The Brain Injury Alliance of Washington.
Free Day at the MOHAI!
BIAWA invites you to come vosit MOHAI in celebration of Brain Injury Awareness Month on Saturday, March 9 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. Admission is free and good for the whole day. RSVP to attend, free lunch provided to those who register before March 6.
Building a Bridge to Belonging with Rev. Jennifer DeBusk Alviar
The Brain Injury Alliance of Washington is hosting a Zoom event with Rev. Jennifer DeBusk Alviar who will engage in a discussion on the restorative benefits, healing, and wholeness that nature provides.
Rev DeBusk Alvair is actively engaged in the healing work of bridge-building and social change. In particular, she advocates for accessibility and inclusion for brain injury survivors and those who identify as neurodivergent.

The National Survey on Health and Disability (NSHD) gives voice to the concerns of people with disabilities and documents their experiences with a variety of issues: access to health care, insurance coverage, housing, transportation, employment and more.

Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution — Movie Screening and Directors Q&A
The Seattle Cultural Accessibility Consortium, Town Hall, and Seattle International Film Festival are thrilled to co-present a FREE screening of Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution, followed by a Q&A moderated by Michael Greer, President and CEO of ArtsFund with the film’s co-director, James LeBrecht. This special event celebrates the 33rd anniversary of the ADA and honors Judy Heumann (1947-2023), a prominent disability rights activist who worked in the Clinton and Obama administrations and is widely regarded as “the mother” of the Disability Rights Movement.
